Dental care in the United States is delivered mostly by private practices: a general or family dentist who handles exams, cleanings, fillings and crowns, and refers out anything that needs a specialist. Group practices and dental clinics put several dentists, hygienists and sometimes specialists under one roof, often with evening and Saturday hours. Most offices ask new patients for a comprehensive exam with X-rays before routine cleanings, which the American Dental Association recommends every six months. Prices are set by each practice, and most accept dental insurance (PPO plans more widely than HMO ones), CareCredit-style financing or an in-house membership plan for people without coverage. Emergency dental services take same-day patients for toothaches, broken teeth and abscesses, usually at a premium.

Kingston is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Kingston is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Pennsylvania's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Dr. Ian Smith and his staff are what you want and need. I messaged, in the middle of the night, with a dental emergency. I got a call before they opened and was sitting in the chair, assessed, and feeling relief minutes after they opened.

Dr. Smith is kind and professional. He explains things thoroughly and makes you feel comfortable and calm when getting dental work done. He listens to the patient and knows their history. Most importantly, he is extremely skilled in dental work. He fixed a filling for me that another office did completely wrong.

After decades of poor experience with dentists, I have to say that Dr. Smith and his office staff are a true breath of fresh air. Everyone's been very friendly and professional. He listens to my thoughts and addresses my needs appropriately. Both he and his staff follow up with me after a procedure to see how I'm doing. When I needed an emergency surgery due to a badly abscessed tooth and they didn't have time in his schedule, he had his staff call around other local dentists to find someone who could address my immediate need. My only regret with seeing Dr. Smith is not having had him as my dentist much sooner.

The best! Iβve been to a few dentists in the area and for the last 5+ years, this has been THE best dental experience Iβve ever had. The nicest staff, good music, and never a long wait. The dental hygienists are ALL so sweet and friendly. The front desk lady (I canβt think of her name) is also so kind and accommodating, in person and on the phone. Dr Smith is also so easy to talk to and thorough. He explains all options and goes over your xrays with you. Iβve never been so impressed with a dental office. I will always recommend this place!

Office very clean, modern, and aesthetically pleasing. Staff was great- friendly, knowledgeable, and very professional. Tina, the dental hygienist, was incredible and took great care of me, answered all questions, and cleaned my teeth like a rockstar! Dr. Smith also great- took time to review findings and answered all questions. Very thorough, great personality, and definitely makes going to the dentist not scary. A+ for sure!
